Demand is inventory too, if the firm can see it
Every broker carries a list of what their clients want, and almost all of it is invisible to the desk next door. A boat comes into the firm, gets listed, and sits for six weeks while a colleague two offices away has a cash buyer who would have taken it in the first week. Nobody was careless. There was simply no place to write either half of it down.
A request board gives both halves the same place to live. Brokers post what a client is looking for and what they have available, on one board the whole firm can read and filter, and the board watches for the overlap so nobody has to keep checking. It is not only boats. Slips, transportation, a yard with a lift, storage before a season: anything a broker has to go find.
Useful to any broker with a live buyer, and useful to a principal who would rather the firm's own demand not go to waste.
